WHAT
IS UNIQUE ABOUT
|
|||
| Our mallets are the product of years of matching players' needs to finest materials and efficient manufacturing techniques. Much of our time is spent listening to players' ideas of what they would like to see in a mallet. This dialogue also helps us in developing new equipment and accessories to make your game more rewarding and enjoyable. Our experienced craftsmen then go to work incorporating those suggestions into our mallet designs. | |||
The
Taper-Lock Fastening System All Oakley Woods Croquet mallets feature our unique
"Taper-lock" fastening system. This simple and effective method of fastening the
head to the shaft incorporates a tapered shaft drawn into a matching tapered bore on the
head. Once the fastening nut is snug, the two are virtually locked into place. A quick
turn of the nut will release them again. The Taper-lock system allows the
shaft to be rotated to a position that is most comfortable for you. It also
enables the
head to be easily removed for transportation. Heads and shafts can now be mixed and matched to
changing court conditions.

ALUMINUM SHAFTS For years, traditional wood shafts were all you would find on our mallets. Recently, players have been requesting aluminum shafted mallets. After initial testing, we are proud to announce that our Purple heart, Shedua and Brighton mallets will come equipped (as their standard configuration) with our new high performance aluminum shafts. Some of their benefits are:
Taller mallets are becoming more popular, mimicking recent developments in tall golf putters. We now stock these shafts up to 42" (overall mallet height). Click here to see how to mallets are measured. These shafts are made from heavy-wall T6061 aluminum alloy tube with the "Taper-lock" fastening system that has become synonymous with all Oakley Woods Croquet mallets. This means that anyone who wants to convert their hickory or ash shafts to aluminum, can do so with the turn of a single screw. The top end features an octagon wood section with our popular cushion grip in your choice of colors (see color chart). The lower end is fitted with a foam grip for positive control on roll shots. ASH SHAFTS Croquet is a game of tradition. Part of that tradition is the aesthetic and tactile beauty of the "tools of the trade". Wood mallets have always been associated with that tradition. Our ash shafts hold true to that, being crafted from hand-selected white ash. Machined to very close tolerances with our unique "Taper-Lock" head fitting. The upper grip section is shaped to a true octagon for a positive fit to the player's hand. They are available with or without a cushion grip, in your choice of colors (see color chart). The natural beauty of the wood grain shines through our hand-rubbed clear finish.
